Albert J. Parham Playground

Nestled in a historically rich area once inhabited by the Canarsie people and later farmed by the Ryerson family, became a public space in 1954. It was transformed from residential land into a playground through the City's initiative to create recreational spaces near schools for dual use by students and the community. Named after philanthropist Albert Lysander Parham, the playground features basketball and handball courts, a mini-pool, climbing equipment, sprinkler showers, picnic benches, and shade under oak trees, making it a vibrant spot for children's play and community gatherings.
